Let’s Kick Mitt Romney a Little More

Because Romney was such a douchebag at CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference), I can’t let it go with yesterday’s post about him dropping out of the race. Jon Stewart brings the thunder:

Vanity Fair Does the ‘Cock

Vanity Fair may not be the world’s greatest magazine and I’m pretty sure there are more ads than actual content, but damn if they don’t do some imaginative photography sometimes. In this month’s Hollywood Issue, they’ve used today’s stars to recreate scenes from Alfred Hitchcock’s films. I’ve included a slideshow below where you can judge for yourself about who was cast correctly and who should have stayed home. All I’ll say is that Renée Zellweger is no Kim Novak.

Election 2008: Another One Bites the Dust

Guy SmileyI’m only making mention of Mitt Romney’s leaving of the 2008 Presidential race because it allows me to use the picture at left at least once.  For some reason, even though he outspent all of his opponents, Romney couldn’t win over the GOP.  Maybe it’s because he seemed insanely insincere.  Maybe it’s because he was like Reagan if Reagan made absolutely no impression on people.  Maybe it’s because his vague economic experience being a billionaire didn’t translate to the American economic troubles.  Maybe it’s because he couldn’t get the religious right because he’s a Mormon and he couldn’t get the pro-war vote because he had no military experience (at least Bush pretended to have some; he dressed up in a flight suit and everything!).

I’m not sure what finished Mitt Romney.  I don’t really care because he’s gone and now the zealots of the Right like Rush Limbaugh are apoplectic because they hate the rest of the Republican field.  Apparently they had zero influence when it mattered to their party.  Boo-hoo.

Election 2008: After Super-Tuesday

Election 2008

Obama - ProgressLet’s get the easy analysis out of the way: John McCain will be the Republican nominee for President. It’s not a matter of “if” but a matter of “when”. If he has 680 delegates (according to CNN) and he needs 1,191 for the nomination, then he’ll probably have this wrapped up in about a month. The question then becomes if he can unite the party. Huckabee becomes a big player for the Vice Presidential nomination because it allows die-hard evangelicals like Dobson to say that they’re not voting for McCain but for Huckabee. As for Romney, he’s left with about $100 million wasted.

Turning to the Democratic race, it may go all the way to Pennsylvania. If it goes past Penn., then it’s a brokered convention and I have no idea what will happen. I’m obviously an Obama supporter and even I have to admit that last night was a draw. He got 13 of the 22 states but he didn’t get California. It all comes down to delegates and while those are still being counted, NBC News has him at a slight lead. That’s major when you consider that the Obama camp was hoping just to stay within 100 delegates of Clinton.

With the money and momentum on his side, Obama’s big challenger now becomes time. Patterns have shown that the more people get to know Obama, the more they like him whereas Clinton, long ago declared the victor, has no place to go but down and simply has to try and hold on to as many delegates as possible. I will continue to root for Obama and I hope that in studying all the candidates, both Democratic and Republican, that you will join me.

I’m Fucking Matt Damon

I’m not a huge Sarah Silverman fan but she is occasionally great. This is one of those occasions.
