Happy Birthday!
This site is now one year old! In the past year, the following has happened in my life (none of it really related to this blog, but it’s fun to share):
- Lost all my steam as a PUA and all my audience that stint generated
- Moved out of my mother’s house and rented a room in a house that’s literally less than a mile away from my mother’s house.
- Got a job as a substitute teacher at my old high school and got most of the students to think I’m “cool” (now if only I could get people in my own age group to think that about me…)
- Got a job as a film critic and eventually film editor for INsite
- Went on amazing trips and lived the life of a junketeer, staying in hotels and going on flights I could never afford so I could interview celebrities like Will Ferrell, Matt Damon, Will Smith, Richard Gere, Jennifer Garner, Kevin Smith, Billy Bob Thorton, and many others.
- Met my favorite actor of all-time, Dustin Hoffman, and got him to sign my DVD of my favorite movie of all-time, The Graduate
- Got a job at Georgia Public Broadcasting working as a writer and as web content developer for the TV show C-47.
- Spent five days in the Exumas and realizing that I love vacationing when everything is already paid for and the activities already planned and I’m in the company of lovely women from New York City and the Bahamas.
- Still about 220 pounds so even though I haven’t lost any weight, I haven’t gained any weight either.
- Still waiting for my real life to begin. I think it may happen very soon.
So that’s what kind of year it has been in the 365 days since I started blogging in earnest. Happy Birthday, blog.
Oh, and my brother turned 20 today. Good for him.

You got one PUA leftover. Congrats on the milestone.
Matt,
I’m not so sure that you’ll remember talking to me at all last year after the StyleLife Challenge, but I’m gonna put on my wishful thinking cap and hope so.
Anyway, I’m writing to ask if there’s any chance you’ll be at the Penny Arcade Expo this year. My guess is a no, but your website indicates an obvious interest in Penny Arcade, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
If you ARE going to be there, I’d love the chance to meet up in person. I’m running a couple events at the show, so I’d be easy to find.
Oh, and good job with all that killer jet-setting you got to do. Something tells me the lessons we learned together were not wasted.
Hope all is well.
Alon

Oh man, I wish I was at PAX this year. I’ll actually be at a junket this weekend. Ironically, I might me moving to Seattle so maybe I’ll see you there next year!
